Visit Britain 4 Stars Bed & Breakfast
Access Statement for The Resting Post

Introduction

Our home is a Grade II Listed Building and was built over 300 years ago. It is in the centre of a village and we offer bed and breakfast accommodation with three guest bedrooms. All our bedrooms are on the first floor, the stairs have a handrail on both sides. The entrance and ground floor is level. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions please contact us and we will endeavour to help.

Pre-Arrival

We are situated in centre of a rural village along the High Street, we used to be the village Post Office and General Stores and because we are a Grade II Listed Building and in a Conservation Area, we are not allowed to replace our shop front. We converted the shop area and above to provide guest accommodation.

There is still a Post Office and General Stores in the village which is about 350 metres away next to one of the two pubs in the village, the other pub is 150m in the opposite direction. They both offer evening meals. The nearest town is Warminster, which is 4 miles away.

There is a bus stop approx 100 metres from the front door along a level footpath and the buses run either way to Warminster and onto Bath, or to Salisbury, every hour.

There is a train station in Warminster, which is 4 miles away and there are usually taxis available outside but we can book one for you if required.

There are local taxi companies and we can make advance bookings for you.

There are no pets in the house and we do not take guest's pets.

You can contact us by telephone, email or post, please see the "Contact Us" section for details.

Arrival and Car Parking Facilities

There is free parking available along the quiet High Street, with low kerbs and no gradients. There are street lights at night.

We do have a private parking area at the rear of the property for one car, if you particularly need to park off the road, i.e. have bicycles on the car, or have a motorbike, please ask about using this area. We also have secure overnight storage for bicycles.

There is a covered entrance to the front door which is level with the pavement and is well lit at night.

We ask our guests to please advise us of their expected time of arrival. Guests can arrive anytime from 4pm but earlier arrival is possible by prior arrangement.

We always offer assistance with luggage.

Guests are given a key to their bedroom and a front door key on arrival, so they may come and go as they please.

Main Entrance

The entrance is through the front door to the house off the High Street. It is level with the pavement and there is a covered area to stand in whilst the doorbell is answered. Please ring the doorbell because we do not always hear if you just knock.

The front door opens into a wide entrance area and then along the hall to the stairs. The breakfast room is situated off the hall. There is a large mat inside the front door then the same carpeting throughout the ground floor, stairs and landing.

Guest Accommodation - Public Areas

The stairs are situated at the end of the hall. There are 12 stairs to the first floor. They are 77cm wide and 18cm deep with hand rails on both sides.

The hall, stairs and landing are all covered in the same short pile carpet.

The whole area is well lit with inset ceiling lights. There is a standard lamp in the hall that is on from dusk until very late. The lighting to the stairs and landing is on a timer so guests do not have to worry about switching it off. There is a good outside light.

The house is all electric and well heated with modern storage heaters in all rooms.
